To excel in Unit 3 on Greek Tragedy, it's highly beneficial to engage in preparatory reading during the summer. While it's not necessary to read the plays themselves, exploring one or two recommended texts will enhance your understanding. Suggested readings include "The Cambridge Companion to Greek Tragedy" edited by P.E. Easterling, "Theatre in Ancient Greek Society" by J.R. Green, and "A Guide to Greek Theatre and Drama" by Kenneth McLeish, among others. These resources are available in the Learning Centre as well as local libraries and bookstores.

Classical Civilisation Unit 3: Greek Tragedy Summer Work
Summer Reading It would certainly help you to do some preparatory reading for Unit 3 over the summer break. You don’t need to read the plays themselves, but it would be a good idea to look at one or two of the following: • The Cambridge Companion to Greek Tragedy edited by PE Easterling • Theatre in Ancient Greek Society by JR Green • A Guide to Greek Theatre and Drama by Kenneth McLeish • Images of the Greek Theatre by Richard Green and Eric Hendley • The Imagery of Euripides by Shirley A Barlow • Euripides Talks edited by Alan Beale All these books are in the Learning Centre, and may be available from your local library or even bookshop!
