  2. What do you know about the Manta ray? I will be telling you about the Manta ray. You will learn about its physical description, habitat, defense, prey, predators, and some interesting facts.

  3. Physical Description

  4. Habitat Do you know where the Manta ray lives? They live in tropical waters of the world. Manta rays live at the bottom of the ocean in coral reefs. The Manta ray can survive in water because it has gill slits.

  5. Defense Do you know that Manta rays use their tails to protect themselves? One way the Manta ray protects itself is the spine has lots of sharp points that hold poison.

  6. Prey • Manta rays eat crabs, shrimp, small worms, fish and clams. Electro-receptors are near their mouth and help them find food. Manta rays have very sharp teeth to break up shells. They use their bodies to uncover hidden prey in the sand.

  7. Predators • Don…don…don! The Manta rays predators are killer whales, sharks and humans. Killer whales, loud sharks, and people hunt Manta rays for food. Humans use the Manta rays skin to make leather products such as boots and bags.

  8. Interesting Facts What do you know about Manta Rays interesting facts? Did you know that the Manta ray is the largest of all rays? It can measure more than 3.2 feet (1m) wide. Also, the sawfish is part of the sting ray family.
