  2. Where the Black Racer lives • The Black Racer is most often referred to as the “Eastern Racer” • Another name or the Black Racer is the “Dark Racer” • The Black Racer lives all over North America and can be found in New England

  3. A Black Racer’s hibernation and breeding • The Black Racer hibernates in dry forests or other dry sunny places • It emerges from hibernation in April • The Black Racer female can lay 6 to 20 eggs in breeding • The young will hatch in late summer • The newborn Black Racer can be 15-22cm • The average adult Black Racer is 50-140cm

  4. How the Black Racer gets its prey • A Black Racer will search its territory for prey that might be limping or are hurt in some way • The Black Racer will eat mammals, birds and frogs or really anything it can fit in its mouth whole • It will hide in tall grass or bushes and wait for prey to come along
