Regional aspects of ISS • The majority of RMTN is implemented using RMDCN, 37 countries are currently connected to RMDCN; • All RA-VI Members should be encouraged to move to the new RMDCN contract with Interoute ; • Increased availability in synoptic and upper-air reports, especially in the Eastern part of Europe; MG to encourage Members to move to the new RMDCN contract

  3. WIS in RA-VI • Back-up agreements: • Moscow-Offenbach • Toulouse-Exeter

  4. Regional aspects of DPFS • Updated information on global modelsoperated in RA-VI, limited areamodelsand EPS systems was given; • Reported about plans of the Serbian NHMS to establish a new NWP consortium encompassing Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania and Moldova. The NWP base tool would be an open version of the WRF system (US model developed by NCAR, NCEP, FSL, AFWA, FAA and others). • Reported on increasingdemandfor European weatherradardataexchange;

  5. Task Team on Migration to Table Driven Codes • 40 Countries of RA-VI produce at least one type of Cat 1 data in TDCF; • TT follows closely the migration process through: organisation of training courses, respond to questions/ requirements of RA-VI members, maintenance of conversion programm synop2bufr; • the Turkish State Meteorological Service organized a training course on “Meteorological Telecommunication and WMO Information System” including lectures on BUFR and Migration to TDCF (Antalya, Turkey, 1 to 6 October 2012); • Roshydromet hosted a workshop on Migration to TDCF issues, which was held near Moscow, Russian Federation, from 26 to 30 November 2012.

  6. TT on Re-design of the Regional Basic Observing Network and WIGOS • Regional WIGOS workshop to be held in Madrid, 4-6 May 2013, which will address: • WIGOS concept and architecture; • Existing projects on national WIGOS implementation; • Benefits of WIGOS; • Capacity building needs.

  7. TT on WIS Development and Implementation • WIS Implementation Plan for RA-VI has been finalized and was approved by the Presendent of RA-VI and is available on the Web. • The implementation should be completed by the next session of RA-VI in September 2013. The TT will monitor implementation progress.

  8. TT on RMDCN • Procurement for next generation of the RMDCN was lead by ECMWF: • Definition of requirements in 2011; • Workshop for RA-VI Members in May 2012, procurement in 2012; • ECMWF Council-78 approved the conteract with Interoute in Dec 2012; • Installation of RMDCN-NG in 2013; • Migration to the new network Q1/2014. MG to encourage members to connect to RMDCN-NG

  9. TT on Regional Instrument Centres • RICs Ljubljana and Bratislava provided calibration standards for Serbia and Bulgaria; • Training lectures were provided for Bulgaria, Oman and Kazakhstan delegations; • Assistance and calibration and maintenance of hydro-meteorological instruments were provided for the following beneficiary countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; • Inter – comparison of calibration laboratories will start 2013.
