  3. Phase 1: Pre-ADN Admission Phase 2: Achieve Core Program Requirements required for Admission Phase 3: Priority Petition Process to be admitted into the Core ADN program GOAL! Acceptance and admission to the Core ADN Program and begin core classes The Petition Process consists of 3 phases prior to acceptance into the Core Nursing Program

  5. At the conclusion of this presentation you will need to complete the ADN Pre-Admission Quiz and bring it to your WITC Admission Interviewwith your WITC campus counselor

  6. Phase 1: PRE ADN Admission You have 120 days to complete STEP 1 once we have received your WITC Application for Admission Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College Associate Degree Nursing Petition Process

Decide which WITC campus you would like to • attend the ADN program • Although the WITC ADN program is ONE program, students are admitted to a campus • You MUST select a campus you will attend, and apply to that campus ONLY • Applicants who apply to multiple campuses will not be considered for admission ADN Petition Process Phase 1

Rice Lake Campus • Admits 24 students each fall term • Admits 16 students each spring term • Superior Campus • Admits 24 students each fall term • Admits 16 students each spring term • Ashland Campus • Admits 16 students each fall term • New Richmond Campus • Admits 24 students each fall term • Admits 16 students each spring term ADN Petition Process Phase 1

Make an appointment to: • Take the ACCUPLACER entrance assessment • You may retest if you do not meet the required scores for WITC and the ADN program • Equivalent scores of other entrance assessments, such as ACT or COMPASS, may be substituted for ACCUPLACER (Scores must be less than 3 years old at the time of application) • Official transcript showing completion of an associate, bachelors or higher degree will waive the need for an entrance assessment ADN Petition Process Phase 1

Make an appointment at campus to: • Meet with a WITC counselor for the program interview, which will include information about • ADN Caregiver Background Check • ADN Functional Abilities • Be sure to bring your ADN Admissions Quiz! To summarize, if you have… • Submitted your WITC Application with the $30 processing fee • Submitted your official high school transcript or equivalent • Attended an ADN Informational Session or reviewed this entire online ADN informational Presentation and completed the quiz • Taken the ACCUPLACER entrance assessment and met the required scores or other higher education degrees • Met with a WITC Counselor for your ADN Admissions Interview • You are ready to continue on to • Step 2 of the ADN Admission Process • You may apply for Financial Aid, if you are eligible, when you progress to Step 2 ADN Petition Process Phase 1

  14. Phase 2: Achieve Core Program Requirements Required for Admission WITC Petition Degree Nursing Admissions Process

  15. Required for Admission to ADN • ACCUPLACER scores at ADN program level • Chemistry with a grade of “C” or higher • 1 semester of college Chemistry (10-806-140) or 1 year of high school Chemistry • Completion of a Nursing Assistant course • Must earn a grade of “C” or higher • National certification exam is not required ADN Petition Process Phase 2

  16. Minimum ACCUPLACER scores required for ADN program • Reading = 77 • Sentence skills = 88 • Arithmetic = 83 • You must work with the Student Success Center until you can achieve these scores ADN Petition Process Phase 2

  17. PRIORITY ADMISSION Is given to students who have completed the ADN program-required General Studies courses as follows: ADN Petition PROCESS Phase 2

Highest priority: • Grade of “B-” or better in: • 10806177 General Anatomy & Physiology • 10806179 Advanced Anatomy & Physiology • Students can still petition with a C, however, in this case the student would be to retake the course and receive a grade of B- before or during the semester the course is listed in the curriculum. • Students MUST EARN a grade of “B-” or better in these 2 courses, although highest priority is given to those students who already have the courses completed with a B- or better • Financial Aid may be available to repeat a course to achieve the required grade of “B-” or better ADN Program-Required General Studies Courses

  19. Earn a grade of “C” or better in: • 10809188 Developmental Psychology • 10801195 Written Communications • 10801196 Oral/Interpersonal Communication • 10806197 Microbiology • 10809198 Introduction to Psychology • 10809196 Introduction to Sociology • 5 elective credits of any associate degree level • (10 level) or higher coursework 2nd Priority Completion of ADN Program-Required General Studies courses in the order listed

  20. Highest priority admission will be given for the student who: • Has earned a “B-” or better in • General Anatomy and Physiology • Advanced Anatomy and Physiology • Has completed, with a “C” or better, the other ADN program General Studies requirements in the order listed • The more General Studies requirements completed in the order listed, the higher the admission priority • *Remember, you can petition with a C in General and Advanced A&P, but you must retake the course and earn a B- or better to be admitted Prioritization of Applicants

  21. Please note…there are Financial Aids limits! • The student who has completed 40 credits but has not met the ADN General Studies program requirements will no longer be eligible for Financial Aid Financial Aid Limits

  22. If you have taken program-required general Studies courses from other colleges • You must SUBMIT an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT indicating the GRADE you earned in the course prior to petitioning Coursework from Other Colleges (Credit for Prior Learning)

  23. In the event that applicants have equally met the Priority Petition for Admission requirements, the student with the earliest documented date of completion of the Pre-ADN Admission (Step 1) requirements will be admitted first Prioritization of Applicants

  24. All General Studies sciences courses are foundational to success in the ADN program, so if your General Studies Science courses were taken more than five (5) years ago you are highly encouraged to retake these courses. ADN Program-Required General Studies SCIENCE Courses

  25. When you have… • Completed Step 1 of the admission process • Met the entrance assessment requirement for the ADN program • Completed a Chemistry course with a grade of “C” or better • Completed a Nursing Assistant course with a grade of “C” or better • You are eligible to petition for entry into the ADN program • Keep in mind Petition for Entry into the ADN Program

Priority petition status will be given to those students who have • Completed both courses with a “B-” or higher • 10806177 General Anatomy and Physiology • 10806179 Advanced Anatomy and Physiology • Completed with a “C” or higher, in this order • 10809188 Developmental Psychology • 10801195 Written Communications • 10801196 Oral/Interpersonal Communications • 10806197 Microbiology • 10809198 Introduction to Psychology • 10809196 Introduction to Sociology • 5 elective credits of any Associate degree level (10 level) or higher coursework Petition for Entry into the ADN Program

  27. Take the QUIZ Print the ADN Admission Process Quiz 2. Complete the Quiz and bring it with you when you meet for your Admission Interview with your WITC Counselor
