  1. THINKING ABOUT CLIMBING MT. KILIMANJARO? Anyone thinking of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro on his/her trip to Africa is no doubt an adventure lover. Many people visiting Tanzania add this in their itinerary as it is as pleasant as the game viewing in the Tanzanian National Parks. The beauty of the rising and setting sun , the hide and seek game of the sunshine with the hikers, the varied vegetation, the unique animals, the friendly locals and above all the exceptional experience of mountaineering stimulate the visitors to add it in their itinerary. Everyone knows that, every mountain climb is hard, requires a lot of stamina and hard work, but Kilimanjaro is accessible to all. The top of the highest African mountain can be achieved only with the strong will power. Getting in: Mount Kilimanjaro is situated just inside northern Tanzania and the next best attraction of Tanzania after the African games. The mountain stands only 42km away from the mountain town of Moshi and 50km from Arusha. Hence Kilimanjaro Airport is the best option for reaching there. Now keeping in view to the growing popularity of Kili-climbing, the numbers of flights have increased to Kilimanjaro International Airport. But if in case you are not getting the direct flight then, you may fly to Nairobi airport, Kenya or Dar es Salaam airport and take a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. Why is it added in Itinerary? 1.It is classic but mysterious. The matter of puzzle is that, it is having a snow capped top in a tropical region. This happens only due to its grate height. 2.It is easily accessible. Any lay man can get him at the top with minimum hard work. It demands the slightest mental and physical preparedness. This sort challenge can be managed without a great deal of technical know-how. 3.It is not costly as other mountain climbing. Because it needs minimum training, least apparatus and if one has a little experience, he/she can even climb without a guide. But it is not advisable. 4.Scenic routes and on road activities: All most all the routes to the summit are full of scenic views with varied vegetation, stunning landscapes, lush forest and endemic mountain animals. The various zones like farmland zone, forest or jungle, heather and moorland,

  2. highland desert and the summit zone all are spectacular. Besides an interaction with the locals en-route is fabulous. Sharing their life style and listening stories of their conflict with the wild animals is incredible and sensational. 5.Experiencing varied climatic zones. While hiking up to the mountain top, one must feel the presence of four seasons due to change in atmospheric zones that would occur due to change in altitude. One would climb below cloud, through cloud and above the cloud, in tropical sun, rain and snow. The varied landscapes as the forest, desert and finally the ice fields at the summit would let you feel of passing through 4 seasons. Best time of climbing: To have some time at Uhuru, the snow capped top of Kilimanjaro is a dream for those willing to conquer this giant mountain. Kilimanjaro is a year round destination, but mostly climbers are recommended to avoid the rainy season between April to end of May, as well as November and December as the roads may be slippery and it may be inconvenient and arduous for the climbers to hike up. Besides, there may be extreme cold and snowfall also. Mid January through end March offer the perfect condition for climbing. July to mid-October is an another spell where you will have high temperatures, no clouds or rainfalls. Essentials to pack up: All mountaineering is arduous and full of scenic views. You would have to pass through various zones of natural settings which would require different things to support you for a pleasant climbing.
