RCAP Implementation Workshop

On August 28, 2014, the RCAP Implementation Workshop was held at Ann Kolb Nature Center in Hollywood, Florida, focusing on enhancing coastal management strategies across Palm Beach County (PBC) municipalities. With 23 out of 38 cities bordering the Intracoastal Waterway and 9 located on barrier islands, effective inter-governmental coordination is essential. The workshop addressed the integration of climate change objectives into the Comprehensive Plan, emphasizing development policies in Coastal High Hazard Areas (CHHA) and the need for collaboration among city agencies.

  2. PBC MUNICIPALITIES • 23 out of 38 cities front Intracoastal Waterway and/or the Atl. Ocean • 9 are in barrier islands • 3 other front Lake Okeechobee • Unincorporated PBC has minimal coastal lands

  3. AAA IMPLEMENTATION • PBC: No jurisdiction over municipalities (except for Traffic) • AAA to be implemented primarily by cities • Process will require inter- governmental / agency coordination (IPARC – League of Cities)
