Enhancing Industrial Competitiveness through Biomass Heating in Brick and Tile Production

Join us on December 16th, 2013, for an insightful event focused on sustainable practices in the European brick and tile industry. We'll discuss how adapting biomass heating technology can significantly reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption in production processes. Our approach aims to replace fossil fuels with renewable biomass while maintaining the efficiency of existing plants. This transformation not only benefits the environment but also strengthens local economies. Collaborate with us to advance energy management and innovative heating solutions. Contact Josef Birngruber at Wienerberger AG for more information.

  1. SPIRE Brokerage event December 16th 2013 SUSTAINABLE PROCESSINDUSTRY EUROPEAN INDUSTRIAL COMPETTIVENESS TROUGH Resource and energyefficiency Biomass heating for Dryer in the bricks and tiles production

  2. todaytheworld'slargestproducerofbricksandNo. 1 on theclayrooftilesmarket in Europe, with 215 plantsin 30 countries • EUR 2,355.5 miorevenuesand • 13,060 employees in 2012 • Our project idea applies for: • SPIRE 2 – 2014: Adaptable industrial processes allowing the use of renewables as flexible feedstock for chemical and energy applications

  3. Standard production process for Bricks & Tiles

  4. Substitution of fossil fuel with biomass • up to 30% reduction of CO2 • lower specific energy consumption [kWh/to fired product] • fossil fuel only used for high temperature processes, where substitution is very difficult • bolt on technology – exiting plants remain widely unchangedadaptable for all bricks & tiles plants • key technology for further use of low temperature energy sources e.g. solar heating, industrial waste heat, district heating, etc. • strengthen local economy • building with a clear conscience

  5. Looking for partners… in the fields of: • biomass firing and heat generation • heat transfer systems • energy management systems • integrated process control systems • dissemination
