  2. Important Information about the ATC • We offer over 25 different programs, many have the opportunity to earn a license or certification upon completing the program. • Only juniors and seniors are able to take classes with the exception of sophomores in the 1st level of engineering. • There are fees involved for all classes that vary from $3 to $1500 depending on the class. • Some classes have internships that may require personal transportation. • All students will earn OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification.

  3. Important Information • ATC school hours are 8:20-10:45 am for morning classes and 12:15-3:00 for afternoon classes. • Krum ISD will provide transportation for students next year. • Mandatory parent/student meeting will be held April 30th, 5:30-7:30 pm and May 3rd 9:30-11:00 am at the ATC. • All Krum ISD students must attend two programs unless they are Cosmetology students.

  4. Aircraft Technology Aircraft Technology Advanced Aircraft Technology Students will learn general repair and maintenance of aircraft systems. As well as being introduced to the aviation industry, air traffic control, ground operations, weather considerations and safety.

  5. Animation Animation Advanced Animation Students will learn to use Adobe Flash to create animations and games in the first level of this class. In level two the students will use NewTek and Lightwave to create texture, light and render characters. Students may earn ACA-FL (Adobe Certified Associate in Flash) and ACA-DW (Adobe Certified Associate in Dreamweaver) as well as possible college credit.

  6. Architecture Advanced Architectural Design Practicum in Architectural Design This course begins to prepare students for a career in the architectural field. Students will use AutoCAD to design residential and commercial structures. The use of green materials and solar energy will be researched and applied to their final projects.

  7. Audio Video Production Audio Video Production Advanced Audio Video Production This program provides training for entry level employment in the Radio, Television and Film Industries. Students learn about the pre-production, production and post-production phases of producing films and videos while using Apple Final Cut Pro S Studio software. They also participate in filming district and community activities and events outside of school.

  8. Automotive Technology Automotive Technology Advanced Automotive Technology Students earn an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification through hands on learning in all systems of an automobile.

  9. CISCO Internetworking Technologies Cisco Internetworking I Cisco Internetworking II This program helps prepare students for entry-level career opportunities in computer internetworking. Students may earn several certifications including CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), ICND 1 & 2 and CompTia Nework +. This interactive class allows students to work with networks of all sizes.

  10. Commercial Photography Commercial Photography Advanced Commercial Photography This course develops students’ skills and knowledge in commercial photography projects. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze customer needs and preferences and develop photographs using a variety of production processes. In this class, students may earn ACA-PS (Adobe Certified Associate in Photoshop)

  11. Computer Maintenance Computer Maintenance Computer Technician IT Essentials curriculum provides an introduction to the computer hardware and software skills needed to help meet the growing demand for entry-level ICT professionals. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of computer hardware and software as well as advanced concepts such as security, networking, and the responsibilities of an ICT professional. Students in the second level course will complete hands on training through the repair of computers, cell phones and tablets. Students may receive a CompTia A+ and a CompTia Server+ certification.

  12. Cosmetology Cosmetology I & Intro to Cosmetology Cosmetology II & Cosmetology Problems & Solutions Through the Cosmetology program, students will learn how to treat hair, skin and nails in accordance with Texas state licensing requirements. This program takes two full blocks a year (four class periods) for two years to complete the program. When they graduate, they will test to receive their Cosmetology license.

  13. Culinary Arts Practicum in Culinary Arts Restaurant Management Hospitality Services Practicum in Hospitality Services Culinary courses will give the students hands on experience in the world of professional food production. They will learn about many facets of the food service industry from the kitchen to catering. Students will have the opportunity to take the Serv-Safe certification. Hospitality Services will develop skills needed to excel in careers including; Hotel and Restaurant Manager, Cruise Ship Director, Chef, Amusement Park Manager, Travel Agent, and many more. Instruction will be delivered through classroom instruction and/or internships in community hotels. Culinary ArtsHospitality Services

  14. Graphic Design Graphic Design & Illustration Advanced Graphic Design & Illustration This course develops students skills and knowledge in graphic design and illustration which is a creative study of the art of visual communications and advertising through creativity, illustration, design, analysis, approach and technical skills. Students may earn an ACA ( Adobe Certified Associate)for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

  15. Welding Welding Advanced Welding This course follows the American Welding Society’s (AWS) “SENSE” guidelines to prepare students for a Entry level certification after completing Advanced Welding. It is a hands on course that is designed for a student with little or no experience in welding.

  16. Health Science Health Science 11th or 12th grade This course is designed to provide for the development of multi-occupational knowledge and skills related to a wide variety of health care careers. Students will have hands-on experiences for continued knowledge and skill development. The course may be taught by different methodologies such as laboratory, clinical rotation, or cooperative education. Student maybe placed in clinical rotation internships at the hospitals.

  17. Allied Health Careers Anatomy & Physiology 1st Semester Problems & Solutions 2nd Semester (Seniors only) Students learn the structure and functions of the body systems. This is class where dissection labs are required and it is taught at a college level. Students may take this class as their 4th science credit. (both semesters must be taken to receive credit) Students may also receive college credit if they pursue an allied health degree at NCTC.

  18. Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.) C.N.A. Seniors only This course is designed to provide instruction toward a Certification with the State of Texas for Certified Nursing Assistant Students will be able to work in a medical facility after passing state certification. Class requirements include 76 hours of classroom instruction along with a minimum of 30 to 40 hours of clinical instruction at the Nursing Facility.

  19. Health Science Job Shadow Job Shadow Internship Seniors only Prerequisite: Health Science Job Shadow Internships in a selected specialty area are what this course entails. This course provides students an opportunity for an unpaid internship at a medical location correlated with the student’s career goals. It can also be used as an occupational course specifically designed to provide knowledge and skills for certification or licensure in an allied health career. Students develop advanced clinical skills necessary for employment in the health care industry or continued education in health careers.

  20. Pharmacology Pharmacology Seniors only The objective of the Pharmacy Technician Program is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to prepare them for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam and enable students to qualify for entry-level positions in retail and hospital pharmacies. Students will develop an understanding of pharmaceuticals and its impact on the health care industry. Career options in pharmacy will also be explored

  21. Pre Veterinary Internship Seniors only Pre-Vet Internship is designed to give students practical application of previously studied knowledge and skills. Students develop advanced clinical skills necessary for the employment in the health care industry(veterinary medicine). Students will document technical knowledge and skills and will be expected to update a professional portfolio. Students will participate in clinical observations at various facilities in the North Texas area during a portion of class time. Pre-Vet

  22. Court Systems and Practices Court Systems and Practices Practicum in Law, Public Safety, Correction & Security Students learn an overview of federal and state court systems. During this class, students will participate in mock trials. Students in the Practicum class will complete an internship at the Denton County District Attorney’s office or a private law firm.

  23. Disaster ResponseForensic Science Disaster Response 1 semester Forensic Science 1 semester (4th Science Credit) Disaster Response and Forensic Science are each a one semester class that are normally paired together. In Disaster Response students will learn about procedures in the event of a disaster. They will become CERT (Citizen Emergency Response Teams) certified. Forensic Science is designed to provide students with an introductory understanding of criminology. Knowledge and skills will be gained in hair/fiber analysis, blood type analysis, bloodstain patters, DNA, and fingerprint comparison.

  24. Law Enforcement Law Enforcement I Law Enforcement II Level one of the law enforcement class is an overview of local, state and federal law enforcement. Students will learn the basics of patrol functions and crime scene investigations. Level two is a practicum class where students will complete an internship at the Denton County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Denton Police Department. They will also receive emergency response training (911) that may lead to certification.

  25. Education and Training Instructional Practice in Education & Training Practicum in Education & Training Students will learn about becoming a classroom teacher through hands on learning experiences in an elementary or middle school classroom. Students are placed in an experienced teacher’s classroom where they will tutor students, prepare and present lessons, develop activities, and learn about classroom management.

  26. Electronics Advanced Electronics Practicum in STEM Electronics This is an exploratory course that introduces the student to a variety of electrical and electronic theories, hands-on experiments, and projects that are designed to interest and inspire students to pursue additional studies and careers in the electrical and electronics career fields.Students may earn 4 certifications through the International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians Certifications.

  27. Engineering Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) Year 1 Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Principles of Engineering (POE) Year 2 Digital Electronics (DE) Engineering-Scientific Research & Design Year 3 Engineering Design & Development (EDD) Students may begin the engineering program in the 10th grade and continue through the 12th grade. In this program, students will learn about many facets of the engineering process from research and design, to math and electronics, to completing a project to address a technical problem. This program is taught using the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum where students may test to earn college credit and also their 4th high school science credit (Scientific Research & Design).
