  3. What is psychological hysteria? • A medical condition that only affects women. • Symptoms include: • Partial paralysis • Hallucinations • Nervousness

  4. What is psychological hysteria? • It is a defense mechanism to avoid painful emotions unconsciously transferring distress to the body. • Causes a person to • need to be the center of attention • Rapidly changing emotions • Impressionistic speeches • Gives opinions with no supporting details

  5. HOW DOES IT AFFECT A GROUP? A phenomena in which a group of people experience the same hysterical symptoms at the same time. They may also become governed by irrational belief or moral panic
