The Community Mercury Reduction Program has expanded to encompass 18 major municipalities, while parallel collection and recycling initiatives are launching in rural areas. The DNR Waste Management Program is conducting a statewide study on municipal solid waste. Additionally, the Pollution Prevention for Agrichemical Dealerships program sees participation from 13 facilities. The SHWEC is evolving into the Center for Environment and Energy, focusing on energy conservation and outreach efforts for mercury reduction in schools.
