What we learned . . . • Can’t hurry greatness • Too much overlap in questioning • Asked questions that didn’t tell us anything • Ignored hidden red flags and gut feelings to fill classes • Moved individuals to phones too early in effort to plug scheduling holes • Lacked adequate support for successful onboarding • Expected spontaneous expertise • Denied that process was flawed

What we did . . . • Lengthened recruiting cycle • Expanded interview panel and identified targeted questions • Identified behavioral and situational questions • Debrief on each candidate, seek unanimous decisions • Added content to training class • Trained mentors to expand support network • Identified knowledge gaps through evaluations • Acknowledged and rectified inadequacies, continuous improvement
