Interaction of Cosmic Rays with Background Plasmas Across Multiple Scales
This study investigates the complex interaction between cosmic rays (CR) and background plasmas, analyzing various scales from historical supernovae (SN) events to modern observations. It explores how streaming energetic particles induce magnetic field instabilities, contributing to the dynamics of interstellar media. Using a combination of MHD calculations and observational data, the research highlights processes like filamentation and self-focusing in proton beams, the role of magnetic tensions, and the significance of CR efficiency in producing observable phenomena such as x-ray flashes during SN events.
