New Members • Welcome any new members interested in Model UN!!!! • Make sure you put your name on the sign-in sheet and sign up for the Remind (text @d2f6c to 81010) so that we can give you any new information • If your friends were not able to make this meeting, they can still join as long as they inform one of the officers next meeting.

  3. What is Model UN? • A academic competition where can learn about diplomacy, persuasive skills, current events, international relations, and the United Nations. • It is well-known across the nation and world. With many colleges, including Harvard, Stanford, Yale and Princeton, participating in two huge competitions in Washington DC and New York. • Participants in Model UN conference are placed in committees (UNSC, WHO, UNESCO, etc.) of the country their school is assigned countries, or occasionally political figures, where they represent them. They are presented with their assignments in advance, along with a topic or topics that their committee will discuss. Delegates conduct research before conferences and formulate positions that they will then debate with their fellow delegates in the committee, staying true to the actual position of the member they represent. At the end of a conference, the best-performing delegates in each committee, as well as delegations, are recognized with awards.

Flock Party • - We will have a both during Flock Party, September 14 • - You can earn service hours for Honor Societies. • - You can also get MUN points. • - Flock Party is so that we can gather funds for buying t-shirts, paying for conference, bus rides, or any Model UN activities. • - Any ideas?
