St. Paul of Tamouh • From Tamouh, Egypt • Loved solitary life since young age • Lived in AnsenaMountain, with disciple Ezekiel • Virtuous life of prayer and fasting • Lord Christ appeared to comfort & strengthen • Later joined St. Bishoy (beloved of our Saviour) in Mount Ansena • "Your body will be buried with that of My chosen Bishoy"

  2. St. Paul of Tamouh • After departure, body was placed with St. Bishoy • Later, St. Bishoy’s body moved to Scete without St. Paul • Boat froze! • Boat moved when St. Paul placed beside St. Bishoy • The Lord’s promise was fulfilled

  4. Joshua Crossing the Jordan • Book of Joshua– 6th book in Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) • Joshua chosen to be Moses’ successor • 12 spies sent. Only Joshua & Caleb had faith in God. • Israelites disobeyed God & lacked faith • Wandered 40 yrs in wilderness

Joshua Crossing the Jordan • 40 yrs later , younger generation enters promise land • Crossing Jordan River • Harvest season - river fiercest & highest • 3 times be STRONG & COURAGEOUS: + “…so I shall be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage …” (Joshua 1:5-6) + “Only be strongand very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law …” (Joshua 1:7) + “Have I not commanded you? Be strongand of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

  6. Joshua Crossing the Jordan • Joshua encouraged & reminded people of God’s promise • Spies sent out, hidden & saved by Rahab the Harlot • Important - When God promises victory, we still have to do work! FAITH + WORK = VICTORY !

Joshua Crossing the Jordan • Before crossing Jordan, Israelites must be SANCTIFIED! • What is SANCTIFY? - To be set apart, to be holy - In Old Testament: abstain from certain food, diseases, dead bodies, etc. - God used outward uncleanness to illustrate inwarduncleanness of sin - Must approach God with PURE heart REPENTANCE + CONFESSION BEFORECOMMUNION

  9. Joshua Crossing the Jordan • Memorial 12 stones, 12 tribes • Why? - To focus on God - A reminder of God’s promise - Encouragement for next task (Jericho)

  10. Joshua Crossing the Jordan And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5 Take God with you when crossing your “Jordan” !
