  2. Extraneous Solutions • Raising both sides of an equation to a power may create extraneous or false solutions • When you solve radical equations, it is important to check your answers in the original equation • If an answer does not make the equation true, it is called an extraneous solution

  3. Solve the equation and check for extraneous solutions.
