  2. Addition Rules • If the signs are the same, add the numbers and keep the same sign. • 5 + 2 = 7 - 8 + - 5 = - 12 • If the signs are different, subtract the numbers. If you have more +’s the answer is +, and if you have more –’s the answer is -. • - 12 + 3 = - 9 24 + - 12 = 12 HOME

  3. Multiplication Rules • If the signs are the same, multiply and your answer will be positive. If the signs are different, multiply and your answer will be negative. • - 6 * (-2) = 12 6 * 8 = 48 • - 4 * 5 = - 20 5 * (-2) = - 10 HOME

  4. Subtraction Rules • Change the sign of the second number and change the subtraction sign to an addition sign. Then follow the addition rules. • 10 – 4 = ? = 10 + (-4) = 6 • - 8 – (2) = ? = - 8 + (-2) = - 6 HOME

  5. Division Rules • If the signs are the same divide and your answer will be positive. If the signs are different, divide and your answer will be a negative. • - 5 / (-15) = 3 6 / 18 = 3 • - 20 / 4 = - 5 80 / (-10) = - 8 HOME
