However in this case the meaning is specified with respect to the context. When ضرب comes with مثل it means to cite. (To explain a word in such a way that it is understood) • He is ashamed. He does not hesitate. The Root letters are ييح.

  11. The transgressors. The root letters are قسف. It literally means coming out of a date from its cover. • How does this make sense? • Compare it to a flower coming out of its bud. The bud has leaf like structures joined together, holding the flower within. When this tears open the flower sprouts from within. And this tearing is called فسق. In Islamic terms فسق means the going out of a man from the boundaries of Shariah ( Islamic Law). When we do a sin we are breaking this boundary that Allah has created. We become transgressors. So who are ? Those who break the boundaries.
