  3. Health Science Core Sequence 2ndCourse Health Science 10-12 Continuation of basic knowledge and skills to includes taking vitals signs, CPR and infection control practices. Articulated Technical Credit Year long course - 1 credit 2014: Principles of Health Science is required. Build the foundation knowledge and skills used in Medical and Health-care careers. Leadership, communication and legal responsibilities are some of the topics. Year-long course – 1 credit Articulated Technical Credit Practicumin Health Science I & II, 11 & 12, 2 Credits Studentscontinue to develop skill and knowledge. 2014? Medical Billing and Coding Grade 12 Pharmacy Technician Grade 12 Clinical Rotation at Knapp Medical Center Certified Nursing Assistant Career Preparation - 12 Career Prep: a paid work based career developmentin a health care related environmentcourse. Must maintain a job for this course. Year-long course – 3 credits. 1st Course Principles of Health Science 9-12

Supportive Courses - 11 & 12 grade Anatomy and Physiology Medical Microbiology Study of the structure and function of body systems. 1 year course 1 credit The study of microorganisms to include identifying the type of microorganism; how it transfers between living organisms, and potential treatment & identification. Semester course .5 credit paired with Pathophysiology Forensic Science Forensic sciences play a vital role in the criminal justice system by providing investigators with scientifically based information through the analysis of physical evidence. Pathophysiology The study of the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of diseases, conditions and syndromes that affect living organisms Semester course .5 credit Medical Terminology STC Dual Enrollment The study of the language used in medicine and health care careers. Articulated Technical Credit Semester course .5 credit Gallstone

  5. 2013-2014 “The Future Starts Now!” HOSA is the student leadership organization for Health Science Students. Weslaco High School has 3 HOSA chapters. Provides leadership opportunities through Fall and Spring Conferences and local chapter activities. National Service Project Fall Leadership Conference Spring Leadership Conference
