  1. Get the competitive edge with the PMP Certification PMI accredited PMP training (Project Management Professional) course is offered by Registered Education Providers (REP) of PMI locally as well as through e-learning courses at the PMI website. The Project Management Institute (PMI) is one world’s leading organisation working towards making program and project management a mature industry. The US based institute is ISO certified and is currently offering eight certificate programs in the field of project and program management. Other than the certified courses, the Institute is involved in pioneering work in conducting research, imparting online training and education, organizing chapters and events worldwide and setting global standards related to project management. The PMP course was the first program launched by the institute in 1984. The course is ideal for experienced project managers as well as project team members who aspire to be project heads one day. The eligibility criteria for the PMP course is A four year degree or a high school degree Additional criteria: Candidate with four year degree - 3 years of project management experience and 4500 hours of heading a project and 35 hours of project management education. Candidate with high school degree - 5 years of project management experience and 7500 hours of heading a project along with 35 hours of project management education. After completing the project management certification training from a REP or online, the candidate needs to sit for the PMP certification exam at the nearest Prometrics testing center. This is a computer based test with about 200 multiple choice questions. The candidate gets about four hours to complete the test paper. The score is available immediately for the candidate to assess whether he has got the passing marks or not. Candidates who are successful in clearing the PMP certification test are certified by PMI that is valid for a period of three years. In order to keep the certification valid for another three years, the candidate needs to earn 60 professional development units (PDUs). The PMP course touches upon the basic five process groups of a project life cycle – initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing the project. There are a total of 49 processes included as part of these five groups. These process groups are elaborated into ten project management knowledge areas: a.Management of Project integration b.Project scope management c.Project schedule management d.Managing project cost e.Quality management f.Resource management g.Communications management in the project h.Project risk management

  2. i.Project procurement management, and j.Project stakeholder management A detailed study of the required inputs, tools and techniques and outputs along with inter- dependence of the knowledge groups amongst each other, is carried out as part of the PMP training. As per a PMI Global Survey conducted in 2015, it was reported that project managers with the PMP certification earn about 20% more salary than the non-PMP certified ones. The survey report was prepared based on the salary information received from more than 26,000 project managers across 34 countries.
