  2. This slide show explains… • Why we do what we do • Why we DON’T do some things that ARE GOOD but DON’T FIT into our vision for Culpeper.

  3. The Theology of Our Vision Christ Worship Community Mission

  4. Christ Christ Covenant seeks to be “Christ exalting”: Through his perfect life and atoning death, Jesus earned salvation and paid for the sins of all those who have been chosen by God before the foundation of the world. Our focus on Jesus Christ is our attempt to model our church and our lives according to the Bible. We believe the Bible is God’s Word, inerrant, and true. We are a people marked by faith in God and repentance for our sins. {Christ is the foundation of everything we do.} Christ

  5. Worship Christ Covenant seeks to practice “God-ward Praise”: The response of a redeemed sinner to God's revelation of himself is worship. We seek to practice worship that is God-glorifying, Scripture-driven, reverent, joyful, edifying to believers, and accessible to unbelievers. We worship together corporately on Sunday, the Christian Sabbath. We worship together as families. We worship as individuals. We worship God in our calling. {Redemption produces worship.} Christ Worship

  6. Community Christ Covenant seeks to be a community that demonstrates “Inward Love”: The same Gospel that moves us to worship also binds us together in profound community. God’s adoption of His people makes him our father, and other Christians our brothers and sisters. Just as sin broke our relationship with God, others, and all creation, so the Gospel brings reconciliation between God, each other, and all of creation. We seek to be a community that is gospel-motivated, forgiving, and self-sacrificial, and that builds solidarity and shares our spiritual gifts. We build and support community through community groups, Christian education, fellowship, accountability, and conflict resolution. {The Gospel is the cohesion of Christian community.} Christ Worship Community

  7. Mission Christ Covenant seeks to obey the Great Commission through a mission of “humble service”: The servant humility of Jesus is the pattern for cultural engagement. We want to provide tangible service to those around us. Our goal is to love and learn Culpeper and to be a group of humble servants, because we are privileged to share the gospel with all who will listen. Furthermore, we want to be a church-planting church. {Jesus’s service and love toward us lead us to be evangelistic servant-disciples, engaging our culture through service ministry.} Christ Worship Community Mission

  8. Our vision is also our plan for outreach to people who are not Christian….

  9. Christ We will reach out to non-believers by serving them, and establish relationship through mission… They will be invited into our community through events and community groups… Once they are involved in our community and comfortable we will invite them to worship with us… …Where they will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and (we pray!) come to know Him. Worship Community Mission

  10. Christ So, by the same process…. We reach the lost… …and disciple the saved. believers unbelievers Worship Community Mission

  11. … but that do not fit into our vision by leading to the next stage of growth. Christ There are many church programs that ARE GREAT…. Worship Community Event Mission Ministry Program Event Class They would clutter our vision, causing us to lose our vision focus and to stagnate instead of growing in Christ.

  12. Event Event Christ So we are committed to saying “no” to those programs, in order to keep our vision clear and our discipleship process streamlined. Class Ministry Worship Program Community Mission

  13. Christ Therefore, we have only one “program” for each stage of our vision and process. Sunday Worship Services Worship Community Groups Community Outreach Ministries Mission
