Water Use Nationally • The Water Use and Conservation Survey estimates total annual water use on U.S. golf courses is 762 billion gallons • The United States Geologic Survey estimated water use in the U.S. in 2000 at 408 billion gallons of water per day • The USGS reports that approximately 137 billion gallons of water per day is used for irrigation • Golf course irrigation accounts for 0.5% of 408 billion gallons of water used per day in the U.S. • Golf course irrigation accounts for 1.5% of the 137 billion gallons of water used per day in the U.S.
