  2. Developing negatives • To develop negatives you will need: • The roll of film you shot with the camera. • The film tank, cover, and insert, the film reel, funnel, and bottle opener. • The brown bottles of developer, stop bath and fixer. • The pan in the sink filled with cool water.

  3. Developing negatives The process is: Set everything up on the counter as shown. Pour the developer in the tank so that it covers about 2/3 of the depth. Make sure you know where everything is, and turn off ALL the lights.

  4. Developing negatives

  5. Developing negatives • 4. Remove film from film canister, using the bottle opener to pry off the top. Make sure you place the parts on the counter, as they are reusable. • 5. Roll the film onto the film reel, and place in the film tank when finished. Put insert cover in, and place plastic cover over the top. • 6. Turn on the timer. It will be pre-set to the proper time by the teacher. YOU MAY NOW TURN ON THE SAFE LIGHTS. • 7. When the timer goes off, pour the developer back in the bottle and pour in the stop bath. Leave the stop bath in for 30 seconds, and then pour it back into the stop bath bottle. • 8. Pour in the fixer. Leave the fixer in 10 minutes. You may set the timer or use your watch. When time is up pour the fixer back into the fixer bottle. You may now turn on the white lights.

  6. Developing Negatives • 9. Take film off reel and place in wash basin for 10 minutes. • 10. Squeegee off the negatives and hang them on the line to dry. • 11. Clean-up darkroon before you leave. • 12. Come out and tell the teacher you are finished.
