  2. UTSA Summer Conference Housing POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Access Cards– Access cards are issued to participants for their personal use and are not transferable. Each card has a pin code associated with it. Participants should always lock the unit doors as they are responsible for their personal safety and Laurel Village’s property. Lost cards must be reported immediately to the Housing Office and there is a lost key charge. Lock outs are $25.00. PLEASE KEEP YOUR KEY CARD IN YOUR POCKET OR BACKPACK. KEYCARDS TEND TO FALL OUT OF NAME TAG. 2. Alcoholic Beverages– No Alcohol is allowed on Laurel Village property. Any guests found with alcohol are subject to Laurel Village Judicial Processes along with removal from the Housing.

  3. UTSA Summer Conference Housing POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 3. Illegal Drugs– The use, possession, or sale of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia or controlled substances is strictly prohibited. Violators will be removed immediately and the matter will be referred to the proper authorities. 4. Compliance with Staff– Participants are required to follow all reasonable directions issued by representatives of Laurel Village or University officials. 5. Destruction of Property– Participants are obligated to report any destruction they witness or in which they are involved. Excessive damage to a facility may result in termination of summer orientation housing.

  4. UTSA Summer Orientation Housing POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 6. Fire– Tampering with fire equipment including the fire extinguishers, exit signs, smoke detectors, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, and any other safety devices is not allowed. There is a $100 fine for tampering with any fire equipment. Participants must report to the front desk any smoke detectors that sound an alarm. Open flames, such as burning candles and incense etc, are not allowed. In the event of a fire, Participants must evacuate the buildings immediately. Once outside, report the fire immediately. Get out as quickly as possible. Call 458-4911 (UTSA PD)to report the fire or 911 and tell them where you live. The presence of smoke and/or heat will automatically activate the alarm system. PULL the alarm outside on the wall to alarm the building to evacuate. If you discover or suspect a fire, begin evacuation. Grab a coat, shoes and a towel and prepare to leave the building. (Use the towel to cover your mouth and nose if there is smoke. Touch the surface of the door before opening it. If it feels hot, DO NOT OPEN IT. DON’T PANIC! If the knob is not hot, brace yourself against the door and open it slightly (fire can create enough pressure to push open a door if it is not held firmly.) If heat or heavy smoke is present stay in the unit and seal cracks around doors and vents as best you can, using wet towels if possible. If door feels cool, open it just a crack to check for smoke. If there is none, leave the building immediately. Meet at the parking lot area R2 and gather for instructions from your SCA as well as UTSA PD. STAY OUT OF THE BUILDING until UTSA PD has issued an all clear.

  5. UTSA Summer Conference Housing POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 7. Fireworks– Possession or use of fireworks of any type are strictly prohibited. 8. Furniture Removal– Participants may not remove furniture from the units. Upholstered furniture may not be left on the balconies or patios. No unit furniture is allow to be removed from the unit or taken outside. 9. Guests–must stay in the their assigned area and are not allowed to leave the community in the evenings. You must wear your nametag and wristband during your entire stay. Conference guests are not allow to have guests during their stay. 10. Medical Emergencies—Contact the front desk at 458-6200 or call UTSA PD at 458-4911. Let them know the type of emergency.

  6. UTSA Summer Conference Housing POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 11. Pets – are not allowed in the campus housing areas, with the exception of service animals. 12. Reporting Maintenance Needs– Participants are to immediately report any maintenance needs particularly safety related issues or flowing water to the on-call staff or front desk. 13. Smoking– All units are non-smoking. Smoking is not allowed on the balcony or stairwell areas. No hookahs, bongs or any other smoking devices are allowed in the units. 14. Quiet Hours - start at 11:00 p.m.—8:00 a.m. Sunday–Thursday. 24 Hours of Courtesy is in effect daily. Your neighbors should not hear any noise from your unit. NO LOUD BASS. UTSA Orientation students lights out at midnight.

  7. UTSA Summer Conference Housing POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 15. Trash— All trash must be taken to the dumpsters. Please let your Leader know you are heading down there with the trash. 16. Violent Behavior– Violence cannot be tolerated in a community living environment. Summer Group participants who commit acts of a violent nature including but not limited to fighting, physical and verbal threats and vandalism may be immediately removed from Housing. 17. Weapons– Weapons of any type, or instruments used in a dangerous fashion, are not permitted in Housing. 18. Windows– Throwing items from windows, removing the screens or using the windows as a means of entry or exit is prohibited.

UTSA Summer Conference Housing LAUREL VILLAGE’S RIGHTS LAUREL VILLAGE’S RIGHTS Staff may exercise the following rights: To enter any room for the purpose of inspection or repair or in an emergency. To reassign Participants in order to accomplish necessary repairs or renovations. To revoke the residency and/or use facility usage privileges of any person whose conduct, in the absolute and sole discretion of Chaparral Village becomes injurious or potentially injurious to the health, welfare or safety of any person in the Housing community.
