  2. Alice Walker is known for her book The Color Purple witch is about two African Americans sisters and their struggles. She was the first African American to win the Pulitzer Price for Fiction. You should admire her life because it is an accomplishment. Interdiction

  3. Alice Walker was born on February 9, 1994 in Eatonton ,Georgia. Alice went to Sarah Lawrence college and later transferred to Spelmen college. She worked as a social worker and a teacher . Alice married Mel Leventhal on 1967. Nine years later they were divorced. Alice’s father earned only $300 a year from sharecropping and dairy farming. Her mom worked as a maid 11 hours for $17 per week to help pay for Alice to go to college. Background Information

  4. Alice writes books about African Americans and what they went through. She wrote her second book four years before she became an editor for Ms. Magazine in 1974. She really didn’t want to become a writer at first in till she knew how talented she was. Alice first started writing poems in college. Career highlights

  5. Alice was the first African American woman to win the National Book award. Even though she is blind in the right eye she still kept working hard . Even if her parents were slaves that doesn’t mean that she isn’t a strong person. She wrote The Color Purple, The Third Life of Grange Copeland and she won the O.
