  4. Problem is caused by Evolution Darwin’s book “The Origin of Species” 1859 Bible account of creation was rejected Compromise = Theistic Evolution Evolutionary Creation First eleven Chapters of Genesis are questioned Call them “myth’s”

  5. Proof Genesis 1-11 is History • New Testament • 60 allusions to Genesis 1-11 • 100 allusions to book of Genesis • Treated Genesis as literal history • Every New Testament author refers to Genesis • Considered the events to have actually occurred

  6. Jesus Believed in Genesis Marriage Quotes Gen. 1:27 and 2:24 Matthew 19:4-5 “have you not read” Abel Matthew 23:35 “blood of righteous Abel” Satan “murderer from the beginning” Jn. 8:44 “liar” Gen. 3:4

  18. Other Bible Passages If events in Genesis 1-11 were not meant to be understood as historical, then the rest of the Bible would indicate that. Genesis 1 - God spoke everything into existence Exodus 20:8-11 Sabbath day “for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth,” Ps. 33:6-9 “by the word of the Lord the heavens were made”

  19. Other Bible Passages Psalms 148:1-4 “praise Him, all His hosts, praise him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars of the night.” Figurative language About created things v. 5 “Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created.”

  20. Bible is unlike any other book God conveys his message to mankind in history.

  23. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17. that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Genesis 1 - 11 If Genesis is not reliable then the whole Bible is not reliable
