WFDSS An interagency, web-based system that provides several decision support tools and supports decision documentation to assist fire managers and agency administrators in making strategic decisions for all federal wildland fire incidents. WFDSS is the system of record for all federal wildland fire decisions.

    21. Platypus Contract for 2011 (http://platypuscomputing.com/fire.html)  - about 100 GIS laptops, willing to get more if needed. SmartSource Contract for 2011 contact Tom Joanes, tjoanes@smartsourcerentals.com, 480.829.6336 - about 25 GIS laptops, willing to get more if needed.   GIS Laptops minimum are: Core Duo 2.0 GHz Laptops 4 GB RAM / 40 GB 15” wide screens / USB ports Ethernet / 802.11 g wireless / DVD/CD RW   Installed software includes: ArcGIS 9.3.1 SP 2 & QIP & Workstation License Manager & MAC key w/10 licenses FIMT 9.3.0.9 / CDF IMT Tools Arc9 / PFE ColorMap / DNR Garmin 5.4.1 Xtools Pro 6.1 / Google Earth 6.0 / Enhanced Shapefile Creator Export to KML / KML to Shapefile / CoreFTPLite / ArcGIS Explorer 10.0.1500   Each laptop will have the ArcGIS license manager and a full keyless license with 10 licenses for ArcGIS and all extensions installed.   If you have problems with these GIS laptops please let your CTSP know, but also contact:   Lorri Peltz-Lewis (Primary) USFS Region 5 GIS Coordinator, Fire and Aviation Management Office – 916-640-1049, Cell – 916-995-3107 lpeltzlewis@fs.fed.us -or- Sean Triplett USFS Fire and Aviation Management – NIFC, Geospatial Coordinator Office – 208-387-5284, Cell – 208-908-9513 setriplett@fs.fed.us Additional questions sent in and answered: 1 - Who usually orders these computers? Generally it is dispatch or the team (Finance section chief or Plans section chief). Keep in mind that this EERA is established for an incident by incident basis. It is not equipment that should be shipped between incidents by a team or individual for any reason. Each fire # is a unique order and the units ordered need to be returned to the vendor after the incident for refurbishing before resent to a new incident. 2 - Can a computer be pre-ordered when heading to a fire? This is highly frowned upon. A resource order is required PRIOR to the order being placed and therefore until the team is called out, knows the location of the fire, ICP, shipping address, etc. the units are not ordered. To ship to a local cache has not worked well either as the units are often times left and then the agency pays for units that just sit. Best to order when at the incident. Who would pre-order this? Again frowned upon. 3 - Can these be used anywhere in the US (including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam?) At this time this is not included in the EERA. The Platypus EERA was established for R5 only. It has been used however, by R5 teams that go outside of the region to fires. My thought would be that this would not be included. What about incidents outside of the US? Same as above. 4 - Are these available to only USFS incidents? As the EERA was established for R5 FS it has been predominately utilized for FS fires within R5. No EERA at the present time is established for a National Basis. Also in FY 2012 this EERA will maybe brought into VIPR. 5 - Can DOI incidents access this contract? In the past issues in payment have arisen by BLM, USPS, BIA. Under the changes for payments within DOI I would suspect they would not request to use this agreement. 6 - What about CAL FIRE or other state-wide or local incident teams? Not for state or local use. If yes, Who would order these? If no, If the incident is a multiple response can these groups use these? Not for use.Platypus Contract for 2011 (http://platypuscomputing.com/fire.html)  - about 100 GIS laptops, willing to get more if needed.
