  3. Diversify your business • Assess your company – do a resource inventory • What are your assets? • What is your special sauce? • Teacher force – human capital • Content – or methodology • Technology, IP • brand • Infrastructure – facilities, business process

  4. Diversify your business Do your homework • What are states buying? • What are school districts buying? • What are the districts needs? • What are the workforce development needs?

  5. Who do you know? • Do a relationship inventory - • Get to know your customer • Build trust with them – become their advocate! • School District Champions • Superintendent, Title I Coordinator, Principals, Teachers, Parents

Diversify your business • Adapt your services and provide a solution to meet the needs of your community, state, region in school services professional development adult learning i.e. literacy, training alternative education special needs - RTI • Make a commitment to build out a solution to those targeted needs and put resources into it

US Department of Education http://www.ed.gov/ Grant information, news about contract opportunities, funding streams and initiatives   Also look at the Ed News for other opportunities: • Community Input and Turnaround Schools Parent and community input will be a requirement in ED's proposal for turning around low-performing schools, Secretary Duncan said in remarks to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). • States to Receive Additional Recovery Funds Oregon and Alabama are among the states that will receive additional Recovery Act funds to support jobs and drive education reforms.

What is the district looking at? How can you re-purpose your corporate offerings to go after that business?
