  1. Our Bridge project By Lily and Olivia!

  2. The River Trip! • Before the project we went on a river trip across the Dart to look at the river and find out what animals live on the river. It was a great experience and was very exciting.

  3. The Exciting Letter! • We received a letter from the council asking us if we could investigate the possibility of building a bridge from Kingswear to Dartmouth. The council wanted sketches,3D design,a well constructed argument showing why we should build a bridge and mathematical graphs to visually display what the public wanted.

  4. Generating Questionnaires! After we received the letter we set to work on making questionnaires as a class to see what the public thought of building a bridge from kingswear to Dartmouth .First we were put into small groups to make one in small groups then we put all of ours together to make a big one as a class.

  5. Surveying The Public Of Kingswear And Dartmouth! We went to Kingswear to ask the public their opinion on having a bridge, we used our questionnaires to help us. The next day we went to Dartmouth and surveyed the public to see what their opinion was on having a bridge from kingswear to Dartmouth.

  6. Researching Bridges! • Then we researched different bridges around the world to see what the bridge we would design would look like. We were put into groups of three and we had to research bridges and find out information about different bridges.

  7. Sorting Data Afterwe researched bridges we were put into two groups of eight, one group was Kingswear and one was Dartmouth. Kingswear group had to sort out the data from the Kingwear public and the Dartmouth group had to sort the data from the Dartmouth public.

  8. Creating charts and success criteria! • Whenwe finished sorting data we were put into partners and had to make graphs with the data that we sorted. When we finished making our graphs we put all of our information together and created success criteria.

  9. Going down to the higher ferry! On our success criteria it told us that we had to build the bridge by the higher ferry ,so we went as a class to the higher ferry to see were on the river the bridge would be. Angela and Hannah took photos of the river and the higher ferry so that when we got back we would know where the bridge would go.

  10. Sketching our landscape and bridges! The next day ,when we came back from the higher ferry,we started to sketch our landscape on a piece of a3 paper. When we finished sketching our landscape we started to sketch our bridges. When we had finished all our sketching we stuck foam pads on to the bridges and stuck the bridges onto our landscape.

  11. Planning and making models ! • After that we were put into groups and had to plan a bridge model, we had to mix our ideas together to make a really great idea together. When our plan was finished we started to make our model. We used: card board; card and mod rock. The bridge project has been so much fun!
