  3. HOOVER COLLEGE PREP DAYfor Freshman! Wednesday, October 17 7:30am-12:00pm (minimum day) All 9th grade students will take the ACT Explore: • Tests students in English, math, reading, and science • Allows students to explore a broad range of career options for their future • Helps students to plan their high school courses and prepare for the ACT *Cell phones will not be allowed while testing & will be collected *Bring a calculator if you can!

  4. Freshman & Sopohmores! GEAR UP will be taking 50 Freshmen and 50 Sophomores to the Universityof California Los Angeles on Friday, October 26th from 7:30am-5:30pm. In order to qualify to attend, you must have PERFECT ATTENDANCE (zero absences in all periods) from 9/24 to 10/19.

  5. HOOVER COLLEGE PREP DAYfor Sophomores & Juniors! Wednesday, October 17 7:30am-12:00pm (minimum day) All 10th & 11th grade students will take the PSAT: • Measures critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. • Provides students firsthand practice for the SAT. • Gives students the opportunity to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program. *Cell phones will not be allowed while testing & will be collected *Bring a calculator if you can!

  6. Grading Period Ends Today marks the end of the 6 week grading period.  Students need to make sure all assignments are turned in and all tests taken by this date to count towards your grade.

  7. HOOVER COLLEGE PREP DAYfor Seniors! Wednesday, October 17 7:30am-12:00pm (minimum day) Seniors who will not be taking the computer literacy exam, will be able to choose 2 of the following 4 senior seminars: 1) Community College Orientation (5 Steps to Enrollment & Accuplacer) 2) SAT/ACT Orientation 3) Writing a UC Personal Statement 4) Choosing a Major (Career Cruising) Program

  9. Clean Campus Classroom Program • After taking 5th period attendance, scheduled classes are escorted to the Back Quad by their teacher. You will meet with our Environmental Specialist who will explain the task at hand. • With the new lunch boundaries, trash pick up takes about 15 minutes.   10. Hoover College Prep Day! Wednesday, October 17 7:30 am – 12:00 pm :: Minimum Day! All students will be participating in a college related activity: 9th grade—ACT Explore 10th/11th grade—PSAT Are you 12th grade—Senior Seminars or “On T?” Computer Literacy Exam (On Track?)

  14. National Organization of BlackChemists and Chemical Engineers Join members of Hoover’s National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChe) Science Bowl Team! Lunch TODAY in Room 1302 Bring your lunch and your brain.  Here they are competing in Washington D.C. on September 27, 2012.
