  3. Freshman & Sophmores! GEAR UP will be taking 50 Freshmen and 50 Sophomores to the Universityof California Los Angeles on Friday, October 26th from 7:30am-5:30pm. In order to qualify to attend, you must have PERFECT ATTENDANCE (zero absences in all periods) from 9/24 to 10/19.

  4. Grading Period Ends The end of the 6 week grading period is on October 12th.  Students need to make sure all assignments are turned in and all tests taken by this date to count towards your grade.

  6. Hoover College Prep Day! Wednesday, October 17 7:30 am – 12:00 pm ~ Minimum Day! All students will be participating in a college related activity: 9th grade—ACT Explore 10th/11th grade—PSAT 12th grade—Senior Seminars or Computer Literacy Exam Are you “On T”? (On Track?)

  8. Senior Grad Fair Wednesday, October 10th 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria Bring order form and deposit.

  9. Hoover Cross Country Congratulations to the following Hoover Cross Country athletes for their outstanding performances at the Central Park Invitational in Huntington Beach, CA, last Saturday. The following athletes received medals in their various races which were comprised of 125+ runners or more in each race. • Sawiros Haile 14th place (Varsity Boys Race) •  Kenia Rendon 33rd place (Varsity Girls Race) •  Cristobal Navarrette 7th place (Freshmen Boys Race) • Awal Hussen 27th place (Freshmen Boys Race) •  Jackie Galindo 17th place (Frosh/ Soph Girls Race) • Anadela Navarrette 30th place (Frosh/ Soph Girls Race)

  10. GEAR UP Study LoungeRoom 206 Come study and get help with homework. Tutoring is available. Mondays – Thursdays: Afterschool – 4:00 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: During lunch time

  11. Clean Campus Classroom Program • After taking 5th period attendance, scheduled classes are escorted to the Back Quad by their teacher. You will meet with our Environmental Specialist who will explain the task at hand. • With the new lunch boundaries, trash pick up takes about 15 minutes.   12. Letter Jacket or Sweater A deposit of $100.00 on the Jacket and deposit of $50.00 on the Sweater is required when placing your order. Bring any patches you want sewn on with you Wednesday evening. Sophomores and Juniorswho are interested in ordering a Letter Jacket or Letter Sweater, are welcome to attend the Grad Fair Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm in the Cafeteria to place an order for a Letter Jacket or Letter Sweater.

  13. HOOVER COLLEGE PREP DAY! Wednesday, October 17 Minimum Day! All 10th & 11th grade students will take the PSAT: • Measures critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. • Provides students firsthand practice for the SAT. • Gives students the opportunity to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program. SAT Word of the Day: 10/10-Diligent=hard working

  14. AP Club Friday October 12th at 2:30 in room 1251 there will be a brief AP Club meeting to elect the AP Club's Leadership Team. All AP students welcomed. Anyone interested in running for a position on the Leadership Team needs to see Mrs. Hedley by Thursday, October 11th to be on the ballot.

  15. Interested in Losing Weight? Hoover High School students wishing to lose weight in a relaxing environment and learn about health and nutrition Tuesday and Thursday mornings 6:30am-7:15am Higher self-esteem, self-confidence, and a healthier lifestyle Prizes will be given out each month to students who lose the most body fat% There will be a lunch meeting with Ms. Stahley and Ms. Saffran Thursday, October 11th in the big gym!

  17. FREE PSAT Workshop Class of 2015 All Sophomores who attend will be entered to win two movie tickets!! You will also get a signature for a milestone. Saturday October 13, 2012 8:15am – 12:00pm Room 1103 @ Hoover Come to GEAR UP Room 206 for a permission slip!
