  1. Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

  2. Research • Most of my research was done using YouTube, a website that allows people to watch and upload videos • The site is really simple to use; just type in the sort of video you’re looking for or the name of the user if you know they uploaded a specific video that you want to see • With YouTube I managed to find music videos and videos that talk about the music industry • Apart from YouTube I used sheets and textbooks, most of which were useful due to the fact that they were specifically made around the subject that I wanted information about

  3. Type in video, other versions come up so introduced to new things, simple search engine Results that come up are nearly always relevant, usually first video is the one Whilst watching the desired video there are recommendations on the right, again introduces user to more videos

Planning • YouTube was again used for this stage to upload my lip sync • I also used my scanner (a HP Deskjet F4580) a lot in order to get things like lyric annotation and sheets of paper onto my blog • The only issue with my scanner was that it struggled to pick up coloured pencil properly and also the scans came out upside down so they had to be edited

Planning • For photos of the location and the risks for the risk assessment I used my sister’s camera, a Nikon CoolPix S230 • The camera is fairly good quality and the flash is controlled by the amount of light, so when photos are taken in a dark surrounding it automatically flashes which is quite handy

Planning • When it came to the preliminary lip syncing task, I used VideoPad Editor to edit all of the footage • The software was easy to use due to how simple it was, however it was limiting as it didn’t have all of the effects that I was after for the video • I filmed the footage with the camera on my phone (BlackBerry Curve 9300) which wasn’t the best quality and as I didn’t use a tripod it was quite shaky, hence why I chose a different camera for my actual filming and also got a tripod

Construction • The two technologies I used for the construction were my Fujifilm Finepix S2550HD camera and Final Cut Pro editing software • The camera was quite good at keeping shots still even when I had to take it off of the tripod • Finepix is HD so the photos were high quality and the shots should have been good quality as well yet there was an issue with the footage (there was a fuzzy effect) but the editing software helped me correct this • The software was also much more advanced than VideoPad so I was able to do a lot more intricate cuts and use more interesting effects on my video, which overall made it more professional and dynamic

  13. Evaluation • I asked my friend to watch and comment on my video in order to get some audience feedback • We used her iPhone to record what she said and myself changing the video; all she had to do was press record and hold the phone • Her iPhone was much better quality than my phone when I used it for the preliminary task • There was a tool that allowed myself to upload the video straight after filming it onto YouTube
