Welcome to the Melbourne Language Lab for Fall 2009! All students must complete 16 hours in the lab by December 5th. Please track your time, sign in and out, and ensure you're working quietly on language materials only. Use BCC identification exclusively for lab resources. Familiarize yourself with the time card process and color coding for different languages. Access to web resources is strictly for language-related work. If interested in volunteering for service hours, please contact us. We look forward to your success in the language lab!

Lab Requirement All students are required to: • Complete 16 hours in the Language Lab before the deadline: December 5th • Keep track of their time. • Sign in and out of lab and wait until your time has been calculated by the lab staff. • Work quietly and only on language material while in lab. • Use BCC identification for lab resources.
Identification for Lab Resources ACCEPTABLE BCC identification ONLY ALL OTHER IDENIFICATION UNACCEPTABLE
Signing IN the Lab • Students will look for their time card in the black box located by the books. • Students will complete the first 2 columns in time card: • Date (M/D) • Time Start • Students will place time card in the IN BOX by the lab staff’s desk.
Signing OUT of Lab • Students take time card from IN BOX. • Students will complete the 3rd column ONLY: • Time End • Student SHOULD wait while staff member: • completes the subtotal of hours • completes grand total of hours done so far • puts their initials At this point students are allow and should check their time for errors.

Web Access • Web access in the lab is only for language use. There is no accessing the web for personal gain. • If the a lab staff member catches a student not working in his/her class material, NO WARNING will be given and NO HOURS will be counted for that day. • NO myspace or email accounts allowed. THIS IS NOT EVEN ALLOWED IF THE COMPUTER IS CHANGED TO THE OTHER LANGUAGE.
Hours in Other Campus • Students are allow to get lab hours in other language labs located in the Palm Bay, Cocoa and Titusville Campus. • Do ours in their language labs, not learning lab with the exception of the Palm Bay Campus. • Students are responsible for getting their hours to us with a copy or a print out from the other lab. • Other campuses will email us, twice during the semester, information about Melbourne students doing hours there, but is the student responsibility to be sure his/her time is being added.

What can you do in the Lab to get your hours ???? Everything related to your language class. For example you can: • Seat on the tables and do your homework (Not only from the Lab Manual) • Study your notes before an exam • Access web sides authorized by your instructor
