  1. Surprising Statement Introduction An American visiting France might be startled to discover that the often-used American ok sign means zero in France. Instead, a visiting American would need to stick up two thumbs if they wanted to indicate something was okay. Other cultural differences between American and France include the fact that people in France consider sitting with your legs apart impolite, their feet are never placed on tables or chairs, and French people find the use of personal items such as combs and toothpicks not suitable to be used in public. These are just a few of the many differences an American citizen might have to think about when considering France for a second home.

  2. Famous Person Introduction Many famous Americans have passed time in France. Some have even come to stay. From diplomacy to literature to music, Thomas Jefferson, Ernest Hemingway, many African American Jazz musicians and the enigmatic Jim Morrison have all left their mark. Even the famous actress Halle Berry at one time considered moving to France. What makes France the right second home for so many? What is it that an American citizen really needs to know about France when considering it for their new home?
