  2. Monday, December 5th • Have you ever gone on a road trip? If so, where, with whom? Describe your trip. • Why do people travel? Why do some people like to travel while others do not? • What’s more important, the journey or the destination? Explain. • Optional (not counted as part of journal total): List your favorite road trip songs.

  3. Wednesday, December 7th Pilgrimage–noun 1. a journey, esp. a long one, made to some sacred place as an act of religious devotion. Ex: a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. 2. any long journey, esp. one undertaken as a quest or for a votive purpose, as to pay homage. Ex: a pilgrimage to the grave of Shakespeare. • Respond to the following: • What types of people do you think would go on a pilgrimage? Why would individuals go on this type of journey? What purpose do pilgrimages serve to groups/organizations/ society? • Have you ever gone on a pilgrimage? Describe it. • If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Why or why not? 3. Do you agree with this definition of success? Why or why not? To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
