  1. Cooperating Teacher Profile Celeste Raub 11/7/13 4A

  2. Years of teaching • This is Ms. Freeman’s second year of teaching. She has taught at Newtown Road Elementary School for both years.

  3. Family • She is not married, she is engaged to her boyfriend of seven years. His name is Carlos Dosamantes, so next year she will be Mrs. Dosamantes. Although, she has always wanted a dog, she has no pets. She does have a younger brother who is 22. He’s the cool one that doesn’t care what others think while she’s more sensitive and mature. Their parents are divorced, but both live in VB. .

  4. Previous Jobs Before Teaching • She has worked since she was in high school. Sonic was her first and possibly favorite job (besides teaching)! Her most recent jobs were waitressing at a local pizza place and she worked for her dad’s former company. He owned a store that sells anything a retail store/business needs. His girlfriend now owns and runs the store.

  5. Favorite Part About Teaching • She enjoys seeing students learning. She likes when students take what she has given them and she can’t wait to keep expanding it. She also enjoys seeing their scores improve because they are starting to really understand the material. She loves feeling needed and she gets so excited when students are into her lesson(s).

  6. Least Favorite Part of Teaching • Her least favorite part about teaching is the time commitment. Personally, it’s worth it to her because she knows her students will reap the benefits; however, it’s not fair to her family, especially Carlos. She’s always stressing out about something she knows she should or could be doing; she’s found it hard to find a good balance. Another one of her least favorite parts is when a parent does not do their job at home in supporting their student’s education.

  7. Where did you go to school, and what degrees did you earn? • She was born in Norfolk but raised in VB. She graduated from PA in 2007. She went to ODU and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree of Science in Education and then her Master’s degree.

  8. Quote about Teaching Philosophy • Learning never stops! If something is not working, try something else because education is not one size fits all. She is constantly looking for a way to better herself, lessons, materials, and organization. It’s good to have friends in the building who you help because you never know when you’ll need it. Be the teacher you would have wanted in school.

  9. Recognitions, Achievements, or Awards Earned • She hasn’t really earned anything like this, but she has always made good grades. She maintained a 4.0 during grad school and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
