  2. What is the EDIT MapViewer? • Tool for taxonomists • Distribution Maps • Point Symbolization • Spatial Analysis • Data Overlay • Connect to GBIF • Simple Data Query • And More!

  3. Distribution Maps • Upload Species data • CSV format • Latitude, and Longitude + a 3rd field is required(scientific name) • More than 3 fields is optional • Can be used for any location specific data analysis

  4. Data Symbolization Turn This: Allowing you to change: • Shape • Size • And Color Into This:

  5. Spatial Analysis • Display point data in reference to a range of areas: • TDWG Regions (Levels 1 and 2) • Standard and UTM Grid zones • WWF Eco regions • View data by region density using total number of records, genus, or species. • All results can be saved with legend, scale bar, and key map for publications.

  6. Spatial Analysis • These include Legends • They are printable • The distribution scale is dynamically generated based on content and the size of the data set.

Data Overlay • View your data using a WMS • Google maps, Yahoo Maps, NASA Satellite images, and many more… • Any WMS provider can be used. • The available layers and styles are shown dynamically. • The map Layer information can be viewed. • This feature is nearing the completion of development

  8. Data Overlay • Ability to see species in reference to: • Vegetation maps • Topographical maps • Urban area maps • Weather maps • Any shape file data imaginable

  9. Connect to GBIF • Browse GBIF database • Overlay information easily • Database with world wide scope • Over 114,925,686 records with coordinates

  10. Simple Data Query • Draw a polygon • Or click an area • Query based on TDWG regions • Displays the genus and species • And/or the number of records • It’s sortable

  11. And More! • Boxes tool • Data Manipulation tool • Map Projection options • Projects Module • And it’s all FREE!! Find it at: Edit.br.fgov.be Or Edit2.br.fgov.be Questions?
