  4. IMAGING • One of the main components of BME • Imaging systems help diagnose and prevent such things as Cancer, Fractures, Parkinson’s Disease and more. • INCLUDE: • MRI • PET scans • X-rays • CT scans

THE JARVIK • AKA The artificial Heart • Artificial Heart Valve- replace damaged heart valves and restore the flow of blood into a smooth rate • The Jarvik 7- the current Artificial Heart used • Prevents further Heart damage • Replaces biological heart by actually pumping blood throughout the body

  6. Artificial Organs and Technologies • Other advancements include: • Artificial Lung • Artificial Eye • Cochlear Implant • Artificial blood vessels • Artificial Limbs • Brain Pacemakers • Android and I-phone heart beat/rate APPS.
