CIVITAS 2016-2020 What is CIVITAS?

CIVITAS is a network of cities that aims to achieve cleaner and better connected transport solutions in Europe and beyond. Through living labs, research projects, public-private partnerships, and political commitment, CIVITAS prioritizes transport and energy efficiency to address pollution, urban growth, and physical inactivity. With measures reaching 52.4 million citizens and a total budget of approximately EUR 250 million, CIVITAS has already demonstrated success stories in areas such as urban freight logistics, car-independent lifestyles, clean fuels and vehicles, safety and security, demand management strategies, transport telematics, mobility management, collective passenger transport, and public involvement. CIVITAS also benefits participating cities, citizens, road users, public transport users, fleet owners, special needs communities, transport professionals, and policy makers.
