Duties • Take pictures of models to be used for web sites, magazines, catalogs, print ads and fashion houses • Conceptualize photo shoots that will highlight the clothing, accessories, and apparel worn by the models • Create a good rapport and working relationship with the models to produce excellent pictures • Coordinate and work well with fashion stylists, art directors, agents and fashion editors • Work well with natural and studio lighting to bring out the best features of the models • Produce photo concepts that are unique, creative, and artistic • Create a relaxing yet professional atmosphere so the models feel comfortable • Achieve excellent poses by boosting the confidence of the models • Use various props and back drafts to create an appropriate photo setting • Do photo shoots in a wide variety of locations, both indoor and outdoor • Produce excellent fashion pictures that bring out the best of the models

  3. Education • Does not require an educational degree • Necessary skills can be gained through internship or apprenticeship with an establish photographer • Attending photography classes is suggested • Earning a degree in photography is always helpful to a successful career

Abilities • Able to translate own artistic vision into photographs • Must have a strong portfolio that emphasizes both a unique, artistic perspective and technical photographic skills • Knowledge of technical elements of photography including lighting, sharpness, composition, and an awareness of fashion and photographic trends • Knowledge in photo editing applications • Strong communication and people skills • Able to capture and maintain a certain mood for the photo shoot
