  2. Imperial Valley Water Exchange The Exchange will be a web-based system where agricultural water users control their water accounts, water delivery orders and water conservation efforts. This self-guided tutorial will get you started. To navigate: click anywhere on page, or any key to advance. Page Up to go back Home to restart. Move mouse here for navigation buttons

  3. Designing the Exchange During 3 month long Design / Test Phase, the system platform is Windows Remote Desktop. • Future Exchange members are testing the system and helping design the Exchange. • Any suggestions are encouraged and welcomed. • Final operational system expected to be online January 2007.

  4. Get your username and password Before you can access the Exchange, you must contact the Water Exchange Administrator to get your password. • Please call (760) 351-1241

  5. Getting online To make the online connection:Select Windows Start Button • Select All Programs

  6. Getting online • Navigate through menus to: > Accessories > Communications > click on Remote Desktop Connection

  7. Getting online • In the Remote Desktop Connection window, type in: uisci-optimizer.com • Then, click Connect

  8. Getting online • Type in your User name • Type in your Password

  9. Getting online • On the Security Warning select Open

  10. …and Welcome to the Exchange

  11. Type in your Account Number and Password, or use the Demo Accounts shown Then select the Log in button We are using Account number: P33323 password: Test for this lesson

  12. …and you are Logged On Let’s explore… Then select the Log in button

  13. First, we’ll order a water delivery… Click on the Delivery Orders button Then select the Log in button

  14. Select… Select when, how much, and where you want the water delivered.

  15. …fill in the details …and click “Review Order”

  16. …and click “Place Order” to make it so. Verify the order…

  17. It is so ordered

  18. Every page has a <Back button to return to the previous page Click <Back to return to the Welcome page

  19. Next, we’ll Transfer water between account holders Then select the Log in button Click on the Transfers button

  20. Our “Water Availability” was set last January 1. Here we can Acquire or Release water as needed Our current water balance Select Acquire or Release, and type in amount A “Public” transfer is between you and the “System” A “Private” transfer is between you and another account holder by prior agreement The “Want Ads” are posted to alert other account holders of water offered or needed

  21. Let’s say we have 24 AF more than we need. Here we will release it back to the System Select Release, and type in amount Select “Public” Select “Review”

  22. As with every Exchange action, we have a chance to Review before we commit Looks good. Select “Place Order” Click “OK” takes us back to the Transfers page

  23. Back on the Transfers page, we see updated balances The system balance increased by 24 AF, our balance decreased by 24 AF The water we just released is now available for others to use. We are no longer financially responsible for those AF. To return to the Welcome page, click the <Back button

  24. Next, click on the Messages button Click on the Messages button

  25. Messages page And then <Back to return This is the communication center between the Exchange and its members, as well as member to member.

  26. Your account details appear on the View My Parcels page Click on the View My Parcels button

Details of each parcel owned and/or leased by this account, one parcel per page And <Back returns to the Welcome page Topographic, Air photo, and soils maps Forward and Back Arrows page though each parcel Water Card assignment. Owner retains water card on this parcel. This parcel has been associated with a named field The canals and gates serving this parcel Summary of parcels owned, leased out, and leased in
