Chair Chair Requirements Lumbar Support Do not sit for a long period Try to avoid the same position for more than 30 minutes Do not slouch when sitting This pushes the lower back out which causes the lower back to strain Chair should have sturdy frame Gives back support without losing shape • Adjust the height of your seat so your work area is elbow level • Place feet flat on floor • Knees should be leveled with your hip or slightly higher than your seat (if chair doesn’t allow consider a footrest) • Sit at arms length from keyboard and monitor • Should have armrests so that it supports your forearm and elbows

Keyboard Locations and Settings • Center monitor and keyboard directly in front of you • Keyboard should be closer to you to prevent excessive stretching • Keyboard should also be slightly below the elbow and at an angle to prevent your wrist from bending • Place mouse to side of keyboard so arms are close to body • Rest your hands in your lap when your not using them
