  1. Definitions: • Bacon:Salted and dried or smoked meat from the back and sides of a pig. Usually sliced thin and fried for food. Use it with fried eggs, to flavour the chicken, potatoes and more.  • Barbecue: Grilled meat; a cookout in which food is cooked over an open fire • Brunch:A combination of breakfast and lunch it is the meal that in the United States, especially on holidays, is consumed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. • Today is also adopted in Europe.  • Croissant: Leavened dough or puff pastry, in a crescent shape usually eaten for breakfast. It can be filled with cream, jam, cheese or ham.  • Mousse: Is a chilled dessert made with flavoured whipped cream, gelatine and eggs. It can be savoury (ham, tuna, foiegras, salmon) or sweet (chocolate, vanilla, etc.). • Muesli: Mixture of oatmeal and barley, nuts, wheat germ, honey and more. With milk or yogurt, is the favourite breakfast for the Swiss. Nowwidespread in manycountries.  • Paella: The national dish of Spain, which varies from region to region, from country to country. The most classic version, the valenciana one, is made with rice, chicken, seafood, vegetables, spices and saffron, cooked in a large cast iron pan: paella, of course.

Pancake: The poor man's dish of the pioneers of the Far West, is still very popular in the United States. Originally, a cake of flour and water fried in butter, it has evolved with the addition of eggs, flour, milk and butter, making it more nutritious. When still warm, sprinkle it with sugar or syrup or jam, like a crêpe. • Pâté: Aspread of very finely minced liver, poultry etc. worked  with  butter, and chilled in the fridge for several hours. Serve as an appetizer spread on toast. The most famous is the pate de foiegras. • Sandwich: Two slices of bread with butter and stuffed with ham, salami, cheese or whatever. It is named after John Montagu, Earl of Sandwich, an avid player who did not want to stop the card games so he had the sandwiches served at the game table. • Speck:A fatty bacon taken from pork belly and smoked over beechwood with herbs and spices. It is produced in Tyrol, hence the German sounding name • Sushi:A Japanese speciality made up of bite-sized piecesof rice topped with horseradish, raw and cooked fish or formed into a roll with fish, egg, or vegetables and wrapped in seaweed. • Tofu: A protein-rich food coagulated from an extract of soybeans and used in salads and in various cooked foods. It is popular throughout the Orient, particularly in Japan.
