  3. Partner Share • Fernando decided to be candid when he told the truth. Do you think it is important to be candid? Why or why not? • Fernando felt guilt when he lied to his family. Can a feeling of guilt sometimes help a person to do the right thing? Explain.

  4. Amazing Words • Deceit- is dishonest act or statement • Did Fernando and the others act with deceit? • Justice-quality of being fair and right • A courthouse is a place where the law is used to uphold justice. • Teach your partner what this amazing word means.

  8. Legends • A legend: • Story told by word of mouth • Has a lesson or moral at the end • Told about animals, heroes, historical characters

  9. Legends • Why do you think people like to tell legends? • Who are usually the characters in legends? • Why could there be several versions of the same legend?

  10. Legends • The story “The Eagle and the Bat” on page 198-199 • Take a look at the illustration. Think about the characters and setting of this story. • Since it is a legend, what features can you expect from the story? • Read this with your partner and discuss the moral of this legend.

  11. Legends • Compare the character traits of the bat and eagle. • Compare the two characters. • Which character is more admirable? Why?

  12. Irregular Plural Nouns • Most plural nouns are formed by adding –s. • Nouns ending in ch, sh, x, z, s and ss you add -es to form the plural • Nouns ending in –y, change the y to I and add –es • Nouns with irregular plurals change spelling
