  2. WHAT IS DEPRESSION? Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depression, major depressive disorder or clinical depression.

  3. TYPES OF DEPRESSION • Anxious distress • Mixed features • Melancholic features • Atypical features • Psychotic features • Catatonia • Peripartum onset • Seasonal pattern

SYMPTOMS • Feelings of sadness, emptiness or unhappiness • Sleepdisturbances, includinginsomniaorsleepingtoomuch • Tirednessandlack of energy, sothatevensmalltaskstakeextraeffort • Feelings of worthlessnessorguilt, fixating on pastfailuresorblamingyourselfforthingsthatare not yourresponsibility • Frequentthoughts of deathsuch as suicide
