  1. archaea Archea are single celled organisms that have no nutrcleus. They live in extreme environments where no other organism could survive. They were the first life on earth.

  2. three domains The three domains represent the largest differences among organisms. Each kigdom belongs in one of the three domains. The domains are Archea, Bacteria, and Eukarya. bacteria animalia archea fungi protista plants

  3. Bacteria All bacteria belong to the domain bacteria. Bacteria can be found in the soil, water, air and even in the bodies of other organisms. Some help and some cause disease.

  4. Eukarya All organisms whose cells have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles are called eukaryotes. Eukaryotes belong to the kingdom Eukarya.

  5. archae The first bacteria on Earth. They can live in extreme environments.

  6. bacteria A kingdom of organisms that have no nucleus, but they do have a cell wall. Their DNA is located in their cytoplasm.

  7. protista The kingdom protista contains many types of organisms that evolved from bacteria. Many are single celled and aome are simple multicellular. Plantlike protists are called algae. Protista evolved into plants animals and fungi.

  8. fungi Molds and mushrooms are examples of this complex multicellular organism. Fungi do’t eat food. Instead, they absorb nutrients from their surroundings. Many are poisonous.

  9. plantae This kingdom consists of organisms that are eukaryotes, have a cell wall, and go through phoyosynthesis. They can live wherever sunlight penetrates. Also, they provide a habitat for other organisms.

  10. animalia The kingdom animalia contains complex multicellular organisms that lack cell walls. They are usually able to move around and have specialized sense organs.

  11. summary 11-2 • Most biologists recognize three domains: Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya. • As scientists discover new organisms, classification systems are changed to include the characteristics of those new organism. • Archaea can live in extreme environments. Bacteria live almost everywhere else. All prokaryotes are members of the domain Archea or the domain Bacteria. • Domai Eukarya is made up of four kingdoms: Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and annimalia. All members Eukarya are eukaryotes.
