  4. From an Ancient Jewish Tradition “The Holy One, blessed be He, commanded Moshe [and company] to construct the tabernacle. It took Moshe [and company] three months to complete this process, and the work was completed on the 25th day of the month of Kislev [what millennia later became the 1st day of Hanukkah]. The tabernacle was completed, however it was then disassembled, folded up and put in storage [until Nisan 1]” (Yalkut Shimoni Exodus 39).

Hanukkah Is a Hebrew word meaning “Dedication.” • Commemorates the re-dedication of the Jerusalem Temple, during the Winter of 164 B.C., after: • It had been occupied by Greek persecutors. • It had been defiled by Greek persecutors. • They erected a statue of the Greek king, that looked like Zeus, on the large Temple altar. • They sacrificed pigs on the Temple altar.

  7. Antiochus “Epiphanes” “Epiphanes” means “God manifest” [in the flesh]

Hanukkah Is a Hebrew word meaning “Dedication.” • Commemorates a miracle from God. • The outnumbered Jews retook the Temple. • According to the Law of Moses, it was to take 8 days to dedicate the Tabernacle/Temple. • The Jews only had one day’s worth of oil. • The oil for the Temple Lampstand (“menorah”) burned for 8 days.

  9. Hanukkah Holds a key to understanding Daniel’s reference to: “The Abomination of Desolation” (Dan 9:27; 11:31; 12:11). Holds a key to understanding Jesus’ reference to: “The Abomination of Desolation” (Mat 24:15; Mar 13:14).
