This document presents the contributions of the information systems (IS) community towards fostering environmental sustainability. It explores various research directions, such as understanding values that influence the use of IS for sustainability, effective design approaches for systems, and the relationship between IS and organizational performance. New business models like cloud computing are examined for their efficiency and environmental impact. Additionally, multi-level models and metrics for enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives are discussed.
