Notional Hours 5 Topic Specification: TC208 Lubrication theory Learning Activities Assignment Description Topic assessment criteria Use Multi media WHAT • The assessor will observe and confirm that learners: • Understand the purpose of lubrication in process plant applications • Understand different classification of lubricants and the advantages, disadvantages and applications for each class • Are able to recommend a lubricant type for different practical applications A group or individual exercise to interview a workshop specialist regarding the application of lubricants Consolidate the findings into a single document Self Study Field visits Collect Information Media search Interview experts HOW Attend lectures Group Discussions • Draw up a checklist in which different lubricants, properties, applications and lubrication methods can be tabulated • Learners interview a workshop specialist to obtain answers to these questions • Report back to the group with a short presentation of findings • Consolidate all the findings and compare with information obtained from literature. Literature is searched for conditioning options.
