  4. The Book of ProverbsChapter 9Vs. 13-18The Rival Banquet of “Folly” is Offered!

  5. Regarding the Adulterous Woman we are told of:Her Character, vs. 13.Her Preparation, vs. 14.Her Invitation, vs. 15.Her Prey, vs. 16.Her Message, vs. 17.Her Outcome, vs. 18.

  6. Her Character, vs. 13.“Woman of folly” Foolish: “Lacking good sense or judgment, silliness resulting from stupidity or misinformation; being ill-advised or unwise.

  7. Satan’s cosmic system starts with misinformation that leads to ill-advised and unwise decisions that are devoid of meaning and are ultimately ridiculous.

  8. Eph 5:18,“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation (ASOTIA – wasteful; foolish), but be filled with the Spirit.”

  9. Insolent: “Presumptuous and insulting in manner or speech.” The arrogance of the foolish ones think they know better than God does.

  10. “Boisterous” - HAMAH, הָמָה“To roar or make an uproar.”

  11. “Boisterous” - HAMAH, הָמָה“To roar or make an uproar.” 1 Peter 5:8, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

  12. “She is naïve, knows nothing.”She is the first to “swallow the lie” of the temptation from Satan’s cosmic system, just as the ISHSHAH did in the Garden of Eden, Gen 3:1-7.

  13. Her Preparation, vs. 14“She sits” She has not lifted a finger to prepare this banquet, compared to the woman “wisdom” who had done much work.

  14. In grace, God has done all the work necessary for the believer to live the unique spiritual life, while Satan just takes from the things God has done and arrogantly repackages them in falsehoods.

  15. “Doorway of her house” The entrance into the cosmic system, as the counterfeit, filled with lies and deceptions, folly and falsehoods. The entrance into false religion or immoral degeneracy.

  16. “On a seat”- KISSE, כִּסֵּא, “seat or throne.”“By the high places” - MAROM, מָרוֹם, “height, elevation, elevated place.”

  17. Reminds us of Satan’s arrogant rebellion against God in eternity past, Isa 14:13-14.

  18. Though wisdom seeks learners of Bible Doctrine, vs. 3, folly waits for them to come to her, vs. 14f., ready with her lies and deceptions.

  19. Her Invitation, vs. 15.“Calling” – QARA, “folly” tries to distract those who did not have in mind to turn aside into her house.

  20. “To those who pass by”The entrapment mentality. Those who are wandering in life and have not buckled down with the intake and application of God’s Word, Prov 7:8, 13.

  21. Principle:The spiritually immature must be extra cautious about their associations and how they spend their time, Satan is waiting to capture them in lies and deception, and their emotions.

  22. Her Prey, vs. 16. “Naïve and lacking heart.” Cf. Prov 6:32; 7:7; 9:4. Those who do not have Bible Doctrine resident within the right lobe (heart) of their soul.
